A large growing China Fir, 'Samurai' is generally upright and slightly pyramidal with drooping branches. Known for its exceptional powder blue new growth. Older foliage is dark green. Since this fast grower is always growing except in the coldest part of the winter in the south, the contrast between the older foliage and new growth is present all summer long. Like other Cunninghamia, 'Samurai' can be cut back all the way to the ground and when it grows back it will come back bushier with multiple canes. While 'Samurai' grows rather slow for the first few years, mature specimens can easily attain a height of 50 feet or more.
